We wear
helmets to protect ourselves from deadly injuries. But what if the helmet
itself becomes the reason behind an accident?
Yes, today I’m going to tell you the story of a killer helmet.
Many riders—especially Pathao and Uber bikers—use a cheap kind of helmet, locally known as the “bati helmet.” Don’t be fooled by its look; it cannot save a head in a crash. Instead, it often turns into a weapon of danger. Because it’s cheap, riders don’t take care of it. They hang it loosely, and while riding, it often slips off, falls on the road, and sometimes bounces back to hit the biker behind. That single moment of carelessness can cost one or many lives.
Last
night, I experienced this nightmare myself. I was riding home after office, a
tired evening as usual. Just in front of me was a ride-sharing biker. His bike
looked miserable—exhaust coughing out thick white smoke. Suddenly, without
warning, his “bati helmet” slipped off and landed right in front of my wheel.
In a split second, my life was hanging on the edge. One wrong move, and I would
have been thrown into the chaos of the road.
But by the
grace of God—and thanks to my ABS braking system—I managed to stop just in
time. My heart was racing, my hands stiff on the handlebar, but I was safe.
That night taught me a lesson I’ll never forget.

I want to share with every rider:
And if
you ever face such a sudden road emergency:
Note: And if you survive such a scare,
don’t just ride away. If possible, talk to the careless rider. Maybe your words
can make him more aware, and perhaps save lives in the future.
