Highway Riding Tips part - 2

Tips

5. Watch Out for Road Hazards

Bangladeshi highways often have unexpected surprises:

  • Potholes & Speed Breakers: Sometimes unmarked, especially in rural stretches.
  • Cattle Crossings: Farmers often move livestock across highways.
  • Pedestrian Crossings: Even in high-speed zones, people may suddenly cross.

6. Take Breaks to Avoid Fatigue

Long-distance highway rides can be draining.

  • Stop every 60–90 minutes for water and rest.
  • Stretch your body to avoid stiffness.
  • Carry some snacks if you’re riding through less-populated areas.

7. Gear Up for Safety

Proper riding gear can save your life.

  • Helmet (full face is best)
  • Gloves (for grip and protection)
  • Jacket & Knee Guards (especially for long rides)
  • Reflective vest for visibility at night

8. Respect the Local Traffic Culture

Bangladesh highways don’t always follow international traffic discipline. Expect the unexpected:

  • A bus may overtake from the wrong side.
  • A CNG or van may enter the highway suddenly.
  • Rural markets beside highways mean sudden crowds.

Always ride with the mindset that others may break the rules—you need to anticipate and react safely.
